For us, that road became a personal journey, crafted with perseverance and conviction. It has been long but necessary and transformative. Now we find ourselves in exodus from a world of urgency, nestled in the lush hills of El Pilón, Vieques, atop a summit blessed by majestic views, steeped in natural wonders, and serenaded by the absence of noise. We are Lejos.
We live in constant awe of the beauty of our planet and this tiny island we call home. We are committed to sustainable practices and conservation, to the well-being of our community, and to welcoming like-minded travelers seeking something one can only find afar.
Our Story
Nestled in the lush hills of El Pilón, Vieques, Lejos Eco Retreat emerged from a vision to create meaningful connections through transformative travel. Our eco-friendly retreat on the beautiful island of Vieques, Puerto Rico, began as a dream for an intimate container hotel where guests could experience the island's natural magic. The development of our ten-acre boutique property began in 2018, but the path was not without challenges - numerous delays and other logistical issues postpone progress beyond our expectations. Despite these setbacks, with perseverance and the unwavering support of family and friends, Lejos opened its first three rooms in 2022, followed by innovative container units in 2023-2024, with final accommodations completing in 2025. In late 2024, we introduced Melao Social Club, Vieques' premier cocktail lounge. It offers, elevated small bites, unique libations, and other expertly crafted concoctions, all part of our commitment to sustainable hospitality in this Caribbean paradise.
Our Vision
Lejos exists to curate experiences that transcend typical accommodation. Our thirteen intimate spaces blend rugged luxury with environmental stewardship, offering guests a rare sanctuary for disconnection and renewal. Through intentional design, sustainable practices, and genuine island hospitality, we create a space where travelers can reconnect with what matters most. Today, Lejos stands as a testament to the transformative power of place—where guests find not just accommodation, but an everlasting connection to Vieques' beauty, tranquility, and magic.
