This Privacy Policy aims to give you information on how Lejos Eco Retreat (“the Company”) collects and processes your Personal Information through your use of our websites, including any data you may provide through Apps, our Social Media Pages, Third Parties, when you sign up for our mailing list or subscribe to our blog, or when booking a reservation. By using these channels, you agree to the terms and conditions of this Privacy Statement.

 

It is important that you read this Privacy Policy together with any other privacy notice or fair processing notice we may provide on specific occasions when we are collecting or processing your Personal Information so that you are fully aware of how and why we are using your Personal Information. This Privacy Policy supplements the other notices we may provide to you and is not intended to override them.

CONTROLLER

The Company is the controller and is responsible for your Personal Information.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

In your use of the Site, you may provide us with information that personally identifies you. For example, we collect information from you when you make a booking through our reservation system or stay at the Hotel. In some cases, we may receive this information from a third party, such as when you book through an online travel agency or through mobile applications. The information we get from your use of the Site may be collected for functional purposes as well as to improve your experience when using these services. This information may also be used for aggregated trend and statistical analysis, and for showing you more relevant content. The information we collect from your device and as a result of your interaction with out Site may include: 

  • Name;

  • Gender;

  • Home and business address;

  • Email address; 

  • Phone number;

  • Payment card information;

  • Nationality and passport, visa or other government-issued identification data; 

  • Important dates such as birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions;   

  • Information such as stay and room preferences;

  • Prior guest stays, goods and services purchased, special service and requests;

  • Social media account information such as profile photo and other public data.

“Other Information” is any information that does not reveal your specific identity or does not directly relate to an individual, such as:

  • Information collected through cookies, pixel tags and other technologies;

  • Demographic information and other information provided by you; and

HOW WE COLLECT INFORMATION

We may collect information in a variety of ways, including:

  • Through your browser or device: Certain information is collected by most browsers or automatically through your device, such as your Media Access Control (MAC) address, computer type (Windows or Macintosh), screen resolution, operating system name and version, device manufacturer and model, language, Internet browser type and version and the name and version of the Services (such as the App) you are using. We use this information to ensure that the Services function properly.

  • Using cookies: Cookies are pieces of information stored directly on the computer that you are using. They allow us to collect information such as browser type, time spent on the Services, pages visited, your location, language preferences and anonymous traffic data. We use the information for such purposes as security, to facilitate navigation, to display information more effectively, to personalize your experience, to understand how the Services are used, to improve the Services and to assist us with resolving questions regarding them. Cookies further allow us to select which of our advertisements or offers are most likely to appeal to you and display them while you are on the Services.   • IP Address: Your “IP Address” is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer by your Internet Service Provider. An IP Address may be identified and logged automatically in our server log files whenever a user accesses the Services, along with the time of the visit and the page(s) visited. Collecting IP Addresses is standard practice and is done automatically by many websites, applications and other services. We use IP Addresses for purposes such as calculating usage levels, helping diagnose server problems and administering the Services.

  • Physical Location: We may collect the physical location of your device by, for example, using satellite, cell phone tower or WiFi signals. For example, if you are using our mobile applications and have consented to sharing your location information with us, this information might be collected through GPS or Bluetooth technologies to enable us to provide certain services to you such as customized offers and promotions. In addition to your use of our websites and mobile applications, we may also receive location information from wireless networks or cellular towers in proximity to your mobile device, through your internet protocol (“IP”) address or through your use of other services we provide at our hotels, such as wireless internet services. We may also have access to location information that you provide to us through your use of social media, such as when you “tweet” your location. Your location preferences can be set or modified at the device level or through modifying your settings with the relevant social media platform.

  • From you: Information, such as your gender or preferred means of communication, is collected when you voluntarily provide it. Unless combined with Personal Information, this information does not personally identify you.

  • By aggregating information: We may aggregate users’ Personal Information (for example, we may calculate the percentage of our users who have a particular telephone area code). Aggregated Personal Information does not personally identify you or any other user of the Services.

HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use the information collected from you primarily to fulfill your hotel reservation. Prior to your stay, this may include sending your information to the Hotel or sending you pre-stay communications. Following your stay, we may also send you post-stay communications and satisfaction surveys to get feedback on your experience.

In some instances where we have your consent or where permitted under applicable law, we may send you marketing communications (which may include text messages) for products and services that we believe would be relevant for you. We also may use information related to your stay to display targeted advertisements on our websites or on third party websites or to send you more relevant messaging. Additionally, we use this information for purposes of aggregated trend and statistical analysis to evaluate and improve our products and services and other market research.

 

Additionally, we use the information we collect from your device for other business purposes related to data analysis, screening for security and potential fraud, to help us improve and optimize our Site and to help us evaluate and manage our services, promotional campaigns and operational practices.

 

WHO WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION WITH

We may share your information with third party service providers to provide services in relation to our business as well as to help us improve our products and services. For example, we might use a third party or a third party product for the purposes of market research and data analytics. In certain instances, subject to local consent requirements, third party service providers may also assist us with various marketing campaigns. We may also share your information with third parties to extend special offers about their own products and services to you. Any such parties will need to agree to comply with our privacy requirements before we provide them with information.

Aside from the purposes described above, we do not share your stay information with any other third parties unless we have your consent or under special circumstances, such as:

  • when we believe in good faith that the disclosure is required by law or to protect the safety of hotel guests, employees, the public or Hotel property;

  • when disclosure is required to comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, subpoena, warrant or legal process; or

  • in the event of a merger, asset sale, or other related transaction.

HOW WE SECURE YOUR INFORMATION

We are committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of the information that you provide to us. To do this, technical, physical and organizational security measures are put in place to protect against any unauthorized access, disclosure, damage or loss of your information. Understanding that no data transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. If you have reason to believe that your interaction with us is no longer secure, please immediately notify us.

DO NOT TRACK (DNT)

"Do Not Track”, shortened as DNT, is a preference that you can set on your browser to opt out of online behavioral tracking done by various companies, such as Google AdWords. At this time our Site does not honor DNT signals.

MANAGING YOUR PREFERENCES AND INFORMATION

We want to ensure that you have the necessary tools at your disposal to control the information that you provide to us, including how we communicate with you. You may opt out from receiving electronic communications from us. If you no longer want to receive marketing-related emails from us, you may opt out by following the instructions contained in each such message. Additionally, you can choose to opt out of target advertising by visiting the Digital Advertising  Alliance at http://optout.aboutads.info/.  It is also important that you contact us to update your information if any of it is inaccurate or changes.

ACCESS, CHANGES, DATA SUPPRESSION / GENERAL DATA PROTECTION REGULATION (GDPR)

If you would like to review, correct, update, suppress or delete Personal Information that you have provided to us, contact us at the address below. In your request, please make clear what Personal Information you would like to have changed, whether you would like to have the Personal Information you have provided to us suppressed from our database, or otherwise let us know what limitations you would like to put on our use of the Personal Information you have provided us. For your protection we may need to verify your identity before implementing your request. We will try to comply with your request as soon as reasonably practicable.

 

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR): We may collect personal information from European residents during their use of our Site. The personal information that we collect is used to fulfill contracts we might have with you, for example, when making a reservation or placing an order for services. In such case, European residents need to be aware that their information will be transferred outside of Europe. Notwithstanding, as a European resident, you have the right to access your personal information and ask us to make changes or to delete the data we have collected.

Our websites and applications may contain links to websites that are maintained and/or controlled by third parties. We make no representations or warranties with respect to such third-party websites. The inclusion of a link on the Online Services does not imply endorsement of the linked site or service by us. We have no control over, and are not responsible for, any third party’s collection, use and disclosure of your Personal Data.   

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these third party websites as their privacy practices may differ from ours.

 

RETENTION

We will retain your Personal Information for recordkeeping purposes and/or to complete any transactions being processed. The retention period will be determined by the precessing necessary unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.

Our websites are not intended for children and we do not intentionally solicit or collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18. If we are notified or otherwise discover that a minor’s personal information has been improperly collected, we will take all commercially reasonable steps to delete that information.
